Diane L. Bassett’s legal career began in Massachusetts, where she was born and raised before moving to Bangkok, Thailand, at the age of 11. She returned to the United States to complete her education, earning a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College and a Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School. After being admitted to the Massachusetts bar, Diane joined Csaplar & Bok, a boutique law firm in Boston specializing in tax law. Following a merger with Gaston & Snow, she continued her focus on small business tax advice, particularly employee benefit plans.
In 1992, Diane established her own firm, expanding her practice into estate planning, trust formation, probate, entity formation, and general small business consulting. Six years later, she relocated to Maine to serve as in-house counsel for a prestressed concrete manufacturing company, eventually becoming the Comptroller. Her passion for business led her to continue in the field, later moving to Florida and rising to the position of General Manager at South Eastern Prestressed Concrete in West Palm Beach. During this time, she was admitted to the Florida bar. Diane’s current practice spans estate planning, trust formation, probate, and small business consulting, with a focus on contract review and negotiation.
Diane’s extensive background in small business tax and estate planning makes her a valuable asset to EquiLaw LLC. Her expertise is particularly beneficial to clients whose equine interests are business-related, where tax planning and organization are crucial.
